Sauna FAQ

The Sauna Experience

What is the best temperature for a sauna?
The appropriate temperature depends on your personal preference. For the infrared heat found in our series, most people enjoy their sessions at temperatures between 120–130 degrees Fahrenheit.
While this varies by individual, a typical session lasts about 10–15 minutes. You can then take a break to cool off for several minutes before returning for another “inning.” If you begin to feel dizzy or uncomfortable at any time, simply leave the sauna and cool off.
After your session, rinse off in a shower or bath to remove any residues or salts left behind. A quick rinse helps close your pores and is the perfect way to end the experience. We also recommend moisturizing your skin and drinking plenty of water or juice to replace fluids lost during heat bathing.

While you should never pour water directly onto the infrared emitters or electrical components, you can certainly enjoy aromatherapy! Many of our customers place a small ceramic or glass bowl of water with a few drops of lavender or eucalyptus essential oil on the bench or a safe shelf. The ambient heat will gently release the scent, enhancing your relaxation.

Yes. Be sure to consult your personal physician if you have any history of heart problems, high blood pressure, or any other health concerns before enjoying a sauna.
Relaxation is the most frequently cited benefit, followed closely by the positive effects of detoxification. Regular use is a powerful tool for both mental and physical wellness.
Infrared saunas are remarkably efficient. Depending on local rates and usage, most owners can expect to pay between $3 and $5 per month in electricity costs.
It takes approximately 15 minutes for an infrared sauna to ready itself. After 15 minutes, the air has warmed and the emitters are running at full power to provide deep-penetrating heat.

Materials & Installation

Does my sauna need a drain?
No. Since these are dry infrared units, no plumbing or drainage is required for installation.
For indoor infrared saunas, wood or tile floors are perfect. Carpet should never be used, as it can absorb sweat and odors over time.

For our Warm Wave and Haven models, the ideal number of infrared emitters and the total wattage have already been precisely engineered for the size of the room to ensure maximum performance.

Standard household breakers should be used. Most of our infrared saunas are designed for convenience and can be plugged into standard 120-volt household outlets (15 or 20 amp). Always ensure your wiring corresponds with the National Electric Code.
At Krossber Pools, our saunas are constructed exclusively from high-quality Canadian Hemlock. We chose Hemlock because it is a durable, non-toxic, and non-allergenic wood, making it the perfect choice for users with sensitive skin or respiratory systems. It handles heat beautifully without warping and offers a clean, bright aesthetic that looks great in any home or backyard.
